Call for Speakers – Lean Tribe Gathering 45 in Stockholm

Lean Tribe Gathering 45 in Stockholm Oct 5th 2017

Main theme: Product Management

Sponsor: iZettle

Developing a business in an agile way is not only about developing products, but about improving the entire company so that all parts of the business have a more effective collaboration together and can respond to the changing market quickly.

Many organizations that have adopted agile, have limited the activities of product management to the IT department and most often to only one role i.e. the Product Owner or product manager. The main responsibilities of a product owner are to manage the expectations of stakeholders and create and prioritize a backlog of work that needs to be done by developers. Product management however, is not a role that is limited to product development. In fact it requires a series of activities in all aspects of the business including sales, marketing, operations, etc.

Limiting the scope of product management to product development has created many challenges for people in organizations. In many companies, the product backlog keeps growing faster than developers can develop functionality or fix bugs. Often customers receive new functionality on a regular basis but they are not yet satisfied with the scope of each release or quality of the code. Most companies that are on a journey to transform to agile, experience an increasing level of friction between operations, development, sales, marketing, etc. Sometimes even in the development departments, teams become overwhelmed by the amount of work that is in their backlog and at the same time get frustrated due to dependencies they have to other teams and products within the organization.

For this Lean Tribe Gathering we are looking for speakers who can talk about challenges and have found ways to address them in different ways, for example:

  • What are the responsibilities of a product owner/manager outside of product development?
  • How can you improve the collaboration between dev and business to create better products?
  • What tools and techniques can you use to manage your ever growing backlog?
  • How can you improve code quality and improve collaboration with sales and marketing in order to keep your customers happy?
  • What challenges have you faced in your organization with regards to product management?

As said, we hope that we can get speakers that have any experiences or interesting points regarding issues like these or other similar challenges in Lean- and Agile organizations. You can propose yourself, someone you know, or someone you have heard of – the only thing we need is a name and an emailaddress
