For the past 7 years Maciej Gudan has been gathering international Agile experience in Poland, Finland and Sweden, including market leading startups like Mobenga and corporations like Nokia and Tieto, working as Director, Coach, PO, SM, Engineer and Designer. Worked with about 50 projects, from web, platform, desktop to mobile. Typical project characterized multiple dependencies, very high pressure/dynamic environment and distributed/multi-cultural Teams. This journey and passion for computer science which started at the age of 8 let him understand better the nature of the software industry.
As Director at Mobenga, during the fast company growth, Maciej introduced a lean concept and together with other Mobengians built from scratch a lean organization reaching 100 people in two countries. He introduced Scrum and they scaled it up to 15 Teams, running the transformation internally and for more than 10 customers. Since most of the parties involved are the market leaders one could see it as a first step to change the industry.
“Scrum by the book” – building a lean organization and introducing Scrum to an intensive industry during the fast company growth
Since the theme is inspirational I would like to share with you a story about building a lean organization and introducing Scrum to a very dynamic and intensive industry during the fast company growth. The story starts with a 30 people organization and a bold title: ”Scrum by the book”. It ends with 100 people, lean organization, 2 countries, more than 15 Scrum Teams and more than 15 customers benefiting from (or hurt by?) Scrum, all in less than 1.5 year.
I hope to show you that even though not easy, everything is possible and share few lessons learned.
