The Conflict between Traditional and Agile Business Development: Experiences from Ericsson M-Commerce and a Writing-in-Education Startup
A startup is NOT a small version of a large company. Whereas established organizations typically focus on efficiency and execution, the focus of a new business unit or a startup ought to be learning, agility and management of uncertainty. Consequently, good strategy, product development, organization and reporting will look very different.
I will share my experiences from two years of work within the new business unit Ericsson M-Commerce. I’ll highlight the difficulties of implementing agile practices in a pre-existing, traditionally managed organization. Then I’ll contrast these experiences with how we currently work in my latest startup.
